Include Your Event

Our Volunteer Philosophy We're Volunteer Friendly Volunteers should do what they are happily willing to do. We don’t add expectations after somebody volunteers. There are always more opportunities, so if somebody wants to take on more, that’s great. But it’s ALWAYS OKAY for a volunteer to say “No” to a new or expanding commitment. It’s all good. Momentum Festival volunteers can feel safe that they aren’t getting sucked in to an escalating commitment. We are building a team that will carry from year to year, and we explicitly want volunteers to be happy with their levels of involvement. That way they are more likely to help the next year. We want somebody to say yes only to the level of commitment they are happily willing to do.

That's Boring. What about Other Ideas?

Yeah, those are fairly typical charity events, but we're open to other ideas. How about these:

• Ice Cream Eating Contest
• Rock Band or Guitar Hero Contest
• Magic Show
• Performance Art
• Talk Like a Pirate Contest
• Goth Fashion Show
• Anything someone can dream up and wants to do*

Small is Good

Small events with just a few people can raise some money for charity. Clubs, church groups and neighborhood committees often hold small events. If you'd like to be part of the Momentum Festival, we can help publicize your event and it all helps our charities.

Big is Good

If you have a big vision with bold ideas, all the better. Of course, it takes a lot more time, effort and planning, but we'll work with you.

Requirements
The only requirement: Somebody to run it. If it’s a small event, we need a few people. If it’s a large event, we need a chair person and a committee of dedicated, responsible people.

*Well, not anything. The Word is Decorum: We appreciate edgy, artsy, and interesting, and we want some of that, but we always meet certain levels of decorum. We're volunteers. We just don't have time for the controversy that comes with shocking outrageousness. That's really what it comes down to. Events can be "out there" and a little outrageous, but sponsors and the charities are part of the mix, so they have to maintain some degree of decorum. Please contact us to discuss your cool idea.
